Two Killed in Delhi-Bound Train Accident After Emergency Brakes Used

Dhanbad, 12th Nov. According to officials from the East Central Railway, two passengers died on Saturday when a Delhi-bound train suddenly stopped after an overhead electric wire snapped in Jharkhand’s Koderma district.

The incident occurred at 12:05 pm near Parsabad, between Gomoh and Koderma railway stations. The driver of the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express applied the emergency brake to stop the train after the overhead electric wire fell on it.

Due to the sudden loss of electric supply, the emergency brake was activated, resulting in the deaths of two individuals from the sudden jolt, explained Ameresh Kumar, Senior Divisional Commerce Manager of Dhanbad Railway Division.

The train was traveling at a speed of 130 kmph at the time of the accident.

Train services on the grand chord line under the Dhanbad Railway Division of ECR resumed after a four-hour halt caused by the accident in the Koderma-Gomoh section.

The Purushottam Express was brought to Gomoh by a diesel engine from the accident site and then sent to Delhi using an electric engine.

Upon receiving the information, Dhanbad Railway Division Manager KK Sinha and other senior officials arrived at the scene.
