Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled to take place towards the end of the year. The Congress won 114 seats in the 2018 assembly elections, while the BJP received 109. However, the Congress government crumbled when many MLAs joined the BJP under the leadership of Jyotiraditya Scindia, who eventually became a Union minister. Shivraj Singh Chouhan was re-elected as chief minister of the BJP in March 2020. The BJP currently has 127 seats in the assembly.
