UP Polls: Priyanka Gandhi Turns Away Her “CM Face” Statement

New Delhi, 22nd Jan. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra rolls back her ‘CM Face’ statement and said that she is not the only face of Congress for Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Priyanka was referring to the statement made by her during a press conference on Friday about her being the Congress’s CM Face in the upcoming UP Polls. She said that the remark was made in a “slight exaggerated way” in response to repeated questions from the reporters/media on the topic.

The Congress General Secretary further said that only party decides who will be the chief ministerial candidate and, in some States, decision has not been taken yet.

“Main ye nahi keh rahi hun ki main he chehra hun. Vo to maine thoda bad ke kah diya kyunki baar, baar aap log yahi sawal kar rahe hain.,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

“There are so many States and they have in-charges whether it is Congress or BJP. Do you ask them whether they are chief ministerial face or not? Why don’t you ask them? Why is this question being put to me?” Priyanka asked.

The Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra during a press conference on Friday gave an indication that she would be the chief ministerial face of the Congress party in the state.

“Do you see anyone else’s face from the Congress Party in Uttar Pradesh? You can see my face everywhere,” said Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on being asked about the chief ministerial face of the party.

She had also said at the press conference that no decision has been taken on her fighting the Uttar Pradesh polls.

Bharatiya Janata Party has declared Yogi Adityanath as Chief Minister Face for Uttar Pradesh Assembly Polls 2022.

Akhilesh Yadav will be the CM face for Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party has declared as its chief ministerial face respectively.

Elections for 403 assembly constituencies in UP are scheduled to be held in seven phases starting Feb 10. Voting will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27 and March 3 & 7. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
