Lucknow, 19th Oct. Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav said that Uttar Pradesh tops the graph of committing crimes easily.

Referring to the Shahjahanpur incident, the SP chief attacked the ruling BJP and said the killing exposed the government’s claims of encountering crime and zero tolerance towards criminals.

Akhilesh said, under the BJP government, Uttar Pradesh has secured the number one position in terms of crime. The SP also attacked the state government over a cash theft case worth over Rs 25 lakh from a police station in Agra, where the miscreants broke the locks of the strong room and fled with the cash kept in the police station. Sometime back, the stolen cash was recovered after raiding the residence of a top railway contractor in Agra. The SP President said that if the police station is not safe, then imagine some other place.

Akhilesh attacked the government for the increasing insensitivity towards crime victims. He cited an instance in which a woman had gone to the police station to trace her husband, who was missing for more than 10 days. Akhilesh said in a tweet, instead of helping the woman, the police advised her to find an option to marry someone else.

The SP president also referred to media reports of a woman, who had recently consumed poison inside a police station, after police allegedly refused to act on her complaint of sexual harassment by local goons in her parliamentary constituency Azamgarh.
