New Delhi, 4th Dec. US Principal Deputy NSA Meets External Affairs Minister Jaishankar External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Principal Deputy NSA of the United States, Jon Finer, on Monday to discuss various bilateral and global issues.
The meeting took place in New Delhi and comes in light of a case filed in a US court by American prosecutors against an Indian national for his alleged involvement in a plot to kill a Khalistani leader on American soil.
Although there is no official confirmation, it is believed that this issue was discussed during the meeting.
Jaishankar expressed his satisfaction with the meeting, stating, “Good to meet Principal Deputy NSA of the US Jon Finer this afternoon. Useful exchange of views on the global situation. Discussed taking our bilateral cooperation forward.”
India has expressed concern over the US linking an Indian official to a man charged with conspiring to kill Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Sikh extremist. India has formed a probe team to investigate the allegations and will take appropriate action based on the findings.
On Wednesday, US federal prosecutors charged Nikhil Gupta, 52, for working with an Indian government employee in the foiled plot to kill Pannun. Gupta was arrested and detained in the Czech Republic, as reported by US prosecutors in a Manhattan court.
