New Delhi, 23rd May: The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, to review bilateral cooperation and discuss regional and global developments.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Secretary Rubio briefed Modi on the continued progress in India-US cooperation across sectors including defence, strategic technologies, trade and investment, energy security, connectivity, education and people-to-people ties.
During the meeting, Rubio also shared the United States’ perspective on various international issues, including the evolving situation in West Asia.
Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s consistent support for peace initiatives and emphasised that ongoing conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s longstanding position favouring peaceful resolution of disputes and diplomatic engagement.
Modi also requested Secretary Rubio to convey his warm greetings to Donald Trump, President of the United States, and expressed hope for continued exchanges between the two leaders.
The meeting comes amid expanding India-US strategic cooperation in areas such as defence manufacturing, advanced technologies, energy partnerships and regional connectivity.
India and the United States have deepened engagement in recent years through initiatives related to critical technologies, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and Indo-Pacific cooperation..
