Uttar Pradesh Issues a High Alert in Noida and Ghaziabad Due to an Increase in COVID Cases; Booster Doses for all

Lucknow, 16th  April. The Uttar Pradesh government issued a high alert in all National Capital Region (NCR) districts on Saturday, citing a steady rise in coronavirus cases in Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar, and directed officials to send samples of COVID patients for genome sequencing.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made the announcement while chairing a meeting on COVID-19 management in the state. During the meeting, the chief minister noted that there has been an increase in COVID cases in the state’s neighbouring areas in recent days, with an impact in the NCR districts. As a precaution, the state government directed that all NCR districts be placed on alert. Yogi Adityanath directed officials to increase the administration of the COVID-19 booster dose to all adults.

Booster doses are being administered in the state’s 700 private vaccination clinics. On Saturday, Gautam Buddh Nagar reported 70 COVID-19 cases, while Ghaziabad reported 11. Furthermore, the chief minister directed officials to keep an eye out for malaria in the Bareilly division and to raise awareness about dengue prevention in the Agra and Lucknow divisions. Earlier in the day, the health department reported that 70 people, including 14 children, had tested positive for COVID-19 in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, bringing the total number of active infections to more than 200. According to the department, the number of active cases in the district, which is adjacent to Delhi, has now reached 218.

According to official figures, 70 more people have tested positive for the infection since Friday morning at 6 a.m., with eight cured during that time. According to Chief Medical Officer Sunil Kumar Sharma, 14 of the 70 new cases are children under the age of 18 who have tested positive for COVID-19. According to official data, 98,902 people in Gautam Buddh Nagar have tested positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic’s outbreak in March 2020, with 490 of them dying as a result of the infection.
