Uttarakhand: Houses Collapsed Due to Heavy Rain in Dharchula, 2 Children Died

Pithoragarh, 30th Aug. Heavy rain had caused much havoc in Pithoragarh, late on Sunday night. Around five residential houses were damaged in Jamuni Tok and two at Siroudayar Tok in Jumma village of Dharchula. About seven people are said to be missing. So far the bodies of two children have been recovered.

District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan said that seven people were reportedly buried under the debris due to heavy rains in Jumma village late at night. Immediately after the information, revenue, SSB, police, SDRF and rescue teams were dispatched to the incident area. NDRF has also been sent to the area. During this, the team has recovered two bodies from the village.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to District Magistrate Pithoragarh Dr. Ashish Chauhan on phone and inquired about the damage caused by heavy rains in Jumma village.

CM instructed the District Magistrate that all possible help should be provided to the affected immediately. Rescue and rescue operations should be carried out with full capacity. Proper treatment of the injured should be ensured.
