New Delhi, 21st Oct. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its second list of 83 candidates for the upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan. This list includes former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and around a dozen of her loyalists who were not included in the first list released on October 1.

Vasundhara Raje, the former Chief Minister, will contest from the Jhalarpatan constituency, which has been traditionally associated with her. Satish Punia will be contesting from Amber, and Rajendra Rathore will be contesting from Taranagar, a change from his previous constituency of Churu.

Jyoti Mirdha, who previously belonged to the opposition party Congress, will be contesting the elections from Nagaur.

Other notable names in the list include Pratap Singh Singhvi, Ashok Dogra, Narpat Singh Rajvi, Shrichand Kriplani, Kalicharan Saraf, Kailash Verma, Siddhi Kumari, Hem Singh Bhadana, Anita Bhadel, and Kanhaiya Lal, among others.

The party had previously released its first list of candidates for 41 seats in Rajasthan on October 1. The announcement of the second list came after a CEC meeting held at the party headquarters, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje.

In August, tensions arose within the BJP as Raje and her camp were excluded from the manifesto committee and the election management committee. Raje’s loyalists have been demanding that she be declared as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming polls.

Rajasthan, currently under Congress rule, will hold its elections on November 23, with the results being announced on December 3, along with four other states conducting elections between November 7 and November 30.
