Veteran Journalist K S Sachidananda Murthy Passes Away

Bengaluru, 13th Oct. Veteran journalist K S Sachidananda Murthy passed away at a private hospital in Bengaluru on Friday. He served as the former Delhi Resident Editor of The Week magazine and Malayala Manorama daily.

Murthy, who was 68 years old, recently underwent a lung transplant surgery and had been on a ventilator for the past few days.

He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Murthy joined The Week in 1982 and remained with the Malayala Manorama group until his retirement in 2022.

He held various positions within the magazine, including special correspondent and resident editor.

Murthy’s death has shocked many, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who both expressed their condolences.

Basavaraj Bommai, a BJP leader and former Chief Minister, also acknowledged Murthy’s contributions to journalism.

Murthy received several awards throughout his career, including the Durlabh Singh Media Award and the Karnataka Media Academy award for lifetime contribution to journalism.
