New Delhi, 19th Nov. In recent months, a number of controversial videos made in Delhi Metro trains and stations have gone viral. In response, DMRC chief Vikas Kumar has appealed to the public to refrain from engaging in objectionable activities and assured that measures are being taken to prevent such incidents.

In an interview with PTI, Kumar stated that surprise checks are conducted by squads to monitor and curb these activities. He also emphasized that security personnel cannot be present everywhere in the metro premises, and therefore, passengers should report any such incidents to the authorities.

Some individuals seeking fame have been seen dancing to popular songs inside train coaches or on platforms, while someone else records it. Additionally, videos have surfaced on social media platforms like Instagram, showing couples engaging in intimate acts inside trains.

One particular video that went viral on X featured a young woman wearing revealing clothing, sparking a debate on public decency and individual freedom.

Kumar, the managing director of DMRC, explained that counseling is initially attempted for individuals involved in such activities. He urged citizens to take responsibility by reporting any objectionable activities they witness to the authorities. He also mentioned the presence of designated squads that conduct surprise checks to enforce norms, including preventing men from entering women’s coaches.

Kumar expressed that DMRC is doing its best to curb such activities and has successfully prevented many incidents that may not be widely known. However, these controversial videos have occasionally tarnished the otherwise impeccable image of Delhi Metro, which has become an essential part of the Delhi-NCR region over the past 20 years.

Several viral videos have caused outrage on social media, such as one showing a couple engaging in intimate behavior on a Delhi Metro train. Another video depicted a man lighting a beedi inside a metro compartment. Users on platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram have tagged DMRC, questioning its ability to prevent such incidents.

Kumar, however, assured that the brand image of Delhi Metro remains unaffected by these incidents. He appealed to people to discipline themselves and refrain from engaging in such activities, emphasizing that Delhi Metro is fully capable of curbing them.

The DMRC has been actively raising awareness about these issues through social media campaigns and outdoor publicity. Posters at various stations urge riders not to film videos in metro premises and cause inconvenience to fellow passengers.

While DMRC has implemented measures to prohibit unauthorized videos in metro trains and stations, the trend of controversial reels shot in Delhi Metro is still ongoing.
