West Bengal CID Takes Over Investigation of Cases Against TMC Leader Sheikh Shahjahan

The West Bengal CID has taken control of the investigation into the cases filed against TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, following his arrest from Minakah in North 24 Parganas district, confirmed a senior official.

Sheikh Shahjahan, apprehended in the early hours of Thursday, was brought to Bhawani Bhawan from a local court in Basirhat, where he was remanded to 10 days of police custody.

He faces charges in connection with two cases stemming from an assault on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers during a raid at his residence on January 5, related to an alleged ration scam.

The charges against him include various sections of the IPC, such as 147 (rioting) and 307 (attempt to murder), as per police sources.
