West Bengal: Governor to Administer Oath to Mamata Banerjee on October 7 at 2 PM

Kolkata, 5th Oct. The ongoing dispute between West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and Speaker Biman Banerjee over the oath of three elected MLAs, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has come to an end.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted on Tuesday and informed that the Governor will administer the oath to two other elected MLAs including Mamta Banerjee in the assembly premises on October 7 at 11:45 am, but later on the request of the government, the Governor has agreed to administer the oath at 2 pm.. He has given information about this by tweeting.

Let us inform you that Governor Dhankhar has snatched the right to administer oaths to the MLAs from the Speaker of the Bengal Legislative Assembly, Biman Banerjee. It is being said that this is the first time that the Governor of Bengal had taken such a step.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar tweeted, “Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar will administer the oath to the elected members of West Bengal MLAs namely Mamata Banerjee, Zakir Hussain and Amirul Islam in the premises of West Bengal Legislative Assembly at 11:45 am on October 7, 2021.” Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar had earlier announced to administer the oath at 11.45 am, but now on the request of the state government, the oath ceremony will be held at 2 pm.

Let us tell you that Jagdeep Dhankhar will be the first governor in the history of West Bengal assembly, who will go to the assembly and administer the oath to the newly elected MLAs. Till now, under the authority given by the Governor, only the Speaker of the Assembly has been administering the oath to the newly elected MLAs. The governor has often administered the oath of ministers in the Raj Bhavan.
