GG News Bureau
Mumbai, 29th July. A 50-year-old woman was found tied to a tree with an iron chain in a forest in Sindhudurg district on Saturday evening. The woman was found in distress by a shepherd in Sonurli village, approximately 450 kilometers from the district headquarters. The shepherd alerted the police, who rescued her.

A photocopy of a US passport and an Aadhaar card with a Tamil Nadu address were recovered from the woman, identified as Lalita Kayi. Her visa has expired, and the police are verifying her documents and nationality. She has been in India for the past 10 years, according to initial reports.

The woman was first taken to a hospital in Sawantwadi and then to Oros in Sindhudurg. Due to her deteriorating health and psychiatric issues, she was subsequently transferred to Goa Medical College for advanced treatment. Doctors have confirmed that she is out of danger but suffers from mental health problems.

The police suspect that Kayi’s husband, who is from Tamil Nadu, may have been involved in the incident. Efforts are underway to trace her relatives in Tamil Nadu, Goa, and other locations as part of the ongoing investigation.

The woman, who has been weak from starvation and exposure, is currently unable to provide a statement about the incident. Police teams are working diligently to uncover the circumstances of her captivity and ensure her safety.
