Words Like ‘Maut’ and ‘Hinsa’ Should Not Target PM Modi: BJP

New Delhi, 18th July. The BJP on Thursday accused the Congress of frequently using inflammatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that terms like ‘maut’ (death) and ‘hinsa’ (violence) should not be used in political speeches to target rivals.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi referenced a statement from a former IPS officer to underscore that such rhetoric, aimed at gaining short-term political advantage, can lead to violence. He pointed out incidents like the killing of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump as examples.

Trivedi targeted Rahul Gandhi, citing instances where Gandhi used words like violence and murder in Parliament. He criticized Gandhi for justifying the throwing of objects at Modi’s convoy during election campaigns as an expression of public apprehension towards the prime minister.

Highlighting security concerns, Trivedi contrasted the protection provided to Modi during his Punjab visit under Congress rule with that given to Rahul Gandhi in sensitive regions like Kashmir and Manipur. He also criticized the presence of a Congress MP who once threatened to cut Modi into pieces.

Trivedi recalled Sonia Gandhi’s 2007 remark dubbing Modi as ‘maut ka saudagar’ (merchant of death) when he was Gujarat’s chief minister, emphasizing the need for maturity in political discourse, particularly from the Leader of Opposition.

In the context of the Ishrat Jahan case, Trivedi alleged that the CBI altered its initial affidavit, which labeled her a terrorist, for political reasons under Congress influence. He noted that Jahan and her associates were killed in an encounter.
