Yogi Adityanath Lauds Budget 2024-25 as ‘Development-Oriented’

Lucknow, 24th July. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the Union Budget 2024-25 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, calling it an inclusive and development-focused plan designed to meet the aspirations of India’s 140 crore citizens.

He highlighted key allocations, including ₹1.52 lakh crore for farmer prosperity and over ₹3 lakh crore for women’s empowerment, noting their significant impact on Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath praised the new tax slabs introduced in the budget, which he believes will create numerous job opportunities for the youth and benefit the middle class. He emphasized that the budget represents a crucial step towards India’s goal of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy and serves as a growth engine for the global economy.

In his remarks, Adityanath expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their efforts. He described the budget as a vital financial document reflecting the government’s commitment to national development.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her seventh consecutive budget presentation, reported an estimated fiscal deficit of 4.9% of GDP. She emphasized significant infrastructure investments, with over ₹11 lakh crore allocated for capital expenditure, representing 3.4% of GDP.

Sitharaman also announced plans for a comprehensive review of the Income Tax Act 1961 and customs duty structure, aimed at reducing disputes and improving efficiency in the tax system.

The budget aims to bolster private investment in infrastructure through viability gap funding and enabling policies, while also simplifying tax regulations and decriminalizing delays in TDS filings.
