20 NCC Girl Cadets Complete Aparajita–Parang La Trek
30-day expedition covers 250 km across glaciers, snowfields and river valleys, including the 5,578-metre Parang La Pass

New Delhi, 16th Sept: Twenty NCC Girl Cadets from across the country have successfully completed the ‘Aparajita – Parang La 2026’ All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek, a flagship adventure activity of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
The expedition was flagged-in at Karzok, Ladakh, on September 16 by DG NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Smt Dipti Mohil Chawla.
During the 30-day expedition, the cadets covered approximately 250 kilometres, traversing the challenging Parang La Pass at an altitude of 5,578 metres. The route connects the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh.
The team travelled from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh to Karzok in Ladakh, passing through high-altitude terrain including glaciers, snowfields and river valleys. The cadets were accompanied by NCC officers, instructors, medical staff and support personnel throughout the expedition.
The trek was flagged off from New Delhi by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on August 18, 2026.
Congratulating the cadets and staff on the successful completion of the expedition, Lt Gen Virendra Vats said such activities help develop leadership, self-confidence, teamwork and endurance among the youth.
The expedition was organised to encourage greater participation of young women in adventure activities and provide them with exposure to challenging high-altitude conditions. It also aimed to promote national integration by bringing together NCC cadets from different parts of the country.
