Ahmedabad, 14th May: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday said the Indian Institutes of Management have emerged as strong catalysts of nation-building and economic transformation while addressing the Coordination Forum Meeting of IIMs at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
The meeting, convened by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education in collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad, brought together chairpersons of Boards of Governors, directors of IIMs and senior government officials to discuss institutional coordination and future academic priorities.
Pradhan, who also serves as Chairman of the Coordination Forum of IIMs, said discussions focused on the role of IIMs in shaping the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, with emphasis on student welfare, innovation, academic excellence and global competitiveness.
He said India’s IIMs are evolving into global models of leadership and management education and can strengthen India’s voice in global discourse by fostering innovation ecosystems and values-driven education.
The Education Minister added that IIMs have the potential to become major national assets contributing to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
Vineet Joshi highlighted the importance of the Coordination Forum in enhancing collaboration and institutional coordination among IIMs.
Key deliberations during the meeting included IIMs’ contribution towards Viksit Bharat goals, aligning undergraduate entrance examinations with future national requirements, development of standard operating procedures for MBA admissions, fee refund policies and inter-IIM student migration.
The meeting also discussed policies aimed at providing exposure to young faculty members and newer IIMs through secondment programmes across institutions, along with implementation of reservation rosters for faculty and non-faculty positions.
Senior officials from the Departments of Higher Education and representatives from the governments of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh also participated in the discussions.
