Bhopal, 1st May: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday recreated the final moments of Noida-based actor-model Twisha Sharma at her marital home in Bhopal as part of its ongoing probe into her death under suspicious circumstances.

Investigators carried a noose, a belt and an 80-kg dummy to reconstruct the sequence of events surrounding the death of the 25-year-old, who was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in Katara Hills on May 12.

According to officials, the reconstruction exercise focused on claims made by Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, who reportedly told investigators that he had taken her down from the noose, while his mother, retired district judge Giribala Singh, had untied the knot around her neck.

The CBI brought both Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh to the scene to understand how Twisha was brought down and to verify their version of events. Investigators also tested the strength of the belt allegedly used as a ligature to determine how much weight it could withstand.

A team of six CBI officials, including a woman officer, inspected the house during the exercise.

The agency arrested Giribala Singh on Thursday after the Madhya Pradesh High Court cancelled her anticipatory bail and set aside the relief earlier granted by a Bhopal sessions court on May 15. Both Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh remain in CBI custody until June 2.

Twisha Sharma had met Samarth Singh through a dating application in December 2024. The couple married in 2025, but just five months later, Twisha was found dead at her marital residence.

Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment and mental cruelty, alleging that gifts and dowry provided during the marriage were repeatedly criticised as being below the family’s expectations.

Family members have also claimed that messages sent by Twisha to her mother revealed that questions were raised about the paternity of the child she was carrying. They further alleged that she was pressured to terminate her pregnancy and felt trapped in the marriage.

Sources said the CBI is using an advanced “tunnel view” investigative technique to reconstruct the final hours before Twisha’s death. The agency is reportedly preparing a minute-by-minute timeline of her movements, interactions and digital activity leading up to the incident.

Officials have not disclosed any conclusions from the reconstruction exercise, stating that the investigation remains underway and all aspects of the case are being examined.
