New Delhi, 2nd June: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday urged tribal youth to advance through education and technology while remaining proud of their heritage, saying they would play a crucial role in building a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India.

The President made the remarks while interacting with beneficiaries of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs’ flagship scholarship schemes at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Addressing the students, Murmu said India possesses immense talent across its villages, remote regions and tribal communities, and that providing the right opportunities, guidance and support enables young people to excel and bring pride to the nation.

“There is no lack of talent in our country. All that is required is the right guidance, support and an appropriate platform,” the President said.

She noted that the presence of scholarship beneficiaries at Rashtrapati Bhavan demonstrated how young people from underserved and remote areas can achieve success when given opportunities to pursue their aspirations.

Highlighting the role of government initiatives, the President said the Centre has been continuously working to empower tribal youth through various welfare and educational schemes.

She described scholarships as more than just financial assistance, saying they serve as instruments that give wings to the dreams of talented young people who may otherwise face barriers due to limited resources.

“Scholarships open doors to new possibilities in the lives of youth who possess immense talent but are held back from progressing due to a lack of resources,” she said.

Murmu emphasised that education remains one of the most powerful tools of empowerment, enabling individuals to become self-reliant, informed and capable contributors to society.

Sharing her own experience, she said education had played a transformative role in her life journey and encouraged the students to become role models for children from similar backgrounds.

The President stressed that true national development becomes possible only when those who succeed help others progress alongside them.

Calling youth the strength and future of the nation, she urged tribal students not to forget their roots, communities and cultural heritage as they advance in their careers.

“When young people move forward with the strength of education and technology while taking pride in their heritage, they will build a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India,” she said.

Murmu said India is moving steadily towards the goal of becoming a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and expressed confidence that the country’s youth would make a significant contribution to achieving that vision.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to actively participate in nation-building and social development, regardless of the fields they choose to pursue in the future.
