Rajnath Singh Urges Youth to Drive Change Democratically

Lucknow, 29th Aug: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday urged young people to acquire knowledge, question injustice through constitutional means and bring about change through democratic methods.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow, Singh said Dr BR Ambedkar’s message of “Educate, Agitate and Organise” meant acquiring knowledge, challenging injustice without violence and uniting to pursue change through constitutional avenues.

Singh recalled Ambedkar’s emphasis on constitutional methods for achieving social and economic objectives. He said when democratic avenues are available, violence, anarchy and unconstitutional methods cannot be justified.

Youth must become job creators
The Defence Minister said universities should shape young minds around the values of justice, equality, liberty and fraternity. He stressed that education must develop thinking, practical and problem-solving abilities while instilling values and sensitivity.

He urged youth to become job creators, problem-solvers and catalysts of positive change, rather than limiting themselves to personal success.

Singh also called for continuous learning and adaptability as emerging technologies create new opportunities. He encouraged students to prepare for fields including artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors and quantum technology.

‘Team India’ for Viksit Bharat
Singh said collective effort was essential for accelerating national development and called upon students to work as part of ‘Team India’ towards the goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He highlighted initiatives in semiconductor manufacturing, digital public infrastructure, startups and manufacturing as examples of efforts to convert challenges into opportunities.

The Defence Minister also pointed to India’s advances in the space sector and the increasing contribution of private companies to launch vehicles and satellite technology.

Singh said India’s development could not be measured by economic growth alone. He stressed the importance of preserving the country’s civilisation, culture and heritage.

“Economic strength makes a nation prosperous, while cultural self-confidence makes it great,” he said.

He also highlighted progress in research, education and innovation and assured that the government would continue creating an ecosystem where young people can explore, innovate, experiment and develop solutions for society.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, BBAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Raj Kumar Mittal and university faculty and staff attended the convocation.
