New Delhi, 3rd June: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday met a Nepalese delegation led by Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening its longstanding relationship with Nepal.

The meeting took place in New Delhi and focused on enhancing cooperation and further deepening the special ties shared by the two neighbouring countries.

According to the Home Minister’s Office, Shah congratulated Lamichhane on the RSP’s victory in the recent elections and conveyed India’s best wishes for the success of Nepal’s new government.

“A meeting was held by Hon’ble Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah with the Nepalese delegation led by Shri Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), in New Delhi today,” the Home Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

During the discussions, both sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Home Minister reiterated India’s commitment to maintaining close and friendly relations with Nepal, underlining the deep historical, cultural, civilisational and people-to-people connections that bind the two nations.

According to the official statement, both India and Nepal expressed their firm resolve to work together to further enhance their special partnership.

The meeting comes amid continued engagement between New Delhi and Kathmandu on issues related to regional cooperation, connectivity, trade and development.

India and Nepal share an open border and longstanding ties rooted in shared culture, traditions and economic cooperation, making the relationship one of the most significant in South Asia.

Officials said the interaction reflected the commitment of both sides to further strengthening bilateral relations and advancing mutual interests in the years ahead.
