New Delhi, 3rd June: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday inaugurated the National Conclave on Strengthening of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) and Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs), stressing that the holistic development of tribal communities is essential for ensuring inclusive national progress and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

On the occasion, the President also virtually inaugurated a Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and 75 Space Labs established in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across the country.

Addressing participants, Murmu described the gathering as a conclave of “tribal change agents” and urged officials and stakeholders to ensure that welfare and development schemes reach tribal communities at the grassroots level.

She said those involved in implementing tribal development programmes have a responsibility to carry government initiatives directly to villages and remote habitations, enabling meaningful transformation in the lives of tribal families.

The President expressed satisfaction that the conclave would deliberate on key dimensions of tribal development and said such discussions would help formulate practical solutions for effective implementation of welfare programmes.

She urged all stakeholders to remember that every project and policy ultimately exists to improve the lives of people.

Highlighting priority areas, Murmu called for ensuring adequate nutrition for every pregnant woman, quality education for every tribal child, dignified livelihoods for tribal youth and effective delivery of welfare benefits to every tribal family.

“It is with this spirit of sensitivity that all agencies and personnel involved in these projects must carry out their work,” she said.

The President also welcomed efforts to preserve and promote the cultural heritage and traditional knowledge systems of tribal communities alongside modern development initiatives.

Emphasising the transformative power of education, she called upon administrators, educators and policymakers to dedicate themselves to the education and skill development of tribal children and youth.

Murmu noted that nearly 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have already been established across the country, providing educational opportunities to students from tribal communities.

Referring to India’s long-term development aspirations, the President said all citizens are collectively working towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047 and that tribal development must remain an integral component of that journey.

“The holistic development of tribal communities will lend the character of inclusive development to the nation’s progress,” she said.

Expressing confidence in the outcomes of the conclave, Murmu said the recommendations, roadmap and policy suggestions emerging from the discussions would help translate development plans into concrete action at the grassroots level and improve the lives of tribal communities across the country.
