Gadkari Reviews Highway Projects in Telangana, J&K, Ladakh
Road Transport Minister stresses quality, monsoon preparedness and timely completion of National Highway works

New Delhi, 25th June: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari reviewed the quality, maintenance and progress of National Highway projects covering 4,931 km in Telangana, 2,035 km in Jammu and Kashmir and 804 km in Ladakh during separate review meetings held in New Delhi.
Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra also attended the meetings, which assessed project implementation based on feedback received through media reports, social media and inputs from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) and project contractors.
Gadkari reviewed the status of ongoing highway projects, maintenance activities and measures being adopted to ensure safe, efficient and durable road infrastructure. He directed officials and executing agencies to accelerate project implementation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accountability.
The Minister called for stronger monitoring mechanisms, timely completion of projects and greater adoption of advanced construction technologies and best practices to improve highway durability, riding comfort and long-term performance.
Emphasising the importance of uninterrupted connectivity during the monsoon season, Gadkari instructed officials to strengthen preparedness through effective drainage management, slope stabilisation, protection works and rapid-response systems to minimise weather-related disruptions and enhance road safety.
He said well-maintained highway infrastructure plays a crucial role in improving regional connectivity, boosting economic growth, promoting tourism and enhancing commuter convenience.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to world-class road infrastructure, Gadkari said the focus would remain on timely execution, quality assurance and modern engineering solutions across the National Highway network.
