New Delhi, 24th July: The Centre has reshuffled the top bureaucracy in the Ministry of Education, appointing Naresh Pal Gangwar as the new Secretary, Department of Higher Education, and T.K. Anil Kumar as the new Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, amid continuing nationwide student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak.
The administrative changes come at a time when the government has announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening the country’s examination system and restoring public confidence in competitive examinations.
Gangwar will now oversee higher education policies, including matters relating to universities, technical education and national-level entrance examinations, while Anil Kumar will head the department responsible for school education and literacy programmes.
The reshuffle follows the Centre’s announcement of a proposed anti-paper leak law providing for fast-track courts and stricter punishment for those involved in examination fraud.
The appointment of new secretaries in both the Higher Education and School Education departments is being seen as a significant administrative step, as these positions play a central role in shaping examination reforms, institutional governance and education policy.
