RSS Chief Calls Maatrutva Foundation of Nation Building

• RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed the valedictory session of Vishwamanglya Sabha’s “Yuganukool Maatrutva” programme.

New Delhi, 25th July: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Friday described motherhood (Maatrutva) as the foundation of creation, family and nation building, while calling for stronger family bonds, continuous dialogue with children and greater confidence in Bharatiya culture.

Addressing the valedictory session of the “Yuganukool Maatrutva” (Motherhood in Harmony with the Times) awareness programme organised by Vishwamanglya Sabha at the Ambedkar International Centre, Bhagwat said motherhood is an eternal concept whose core values remain unchanged despite changing times.

He remarked that motherhood is the basis of the world’s creation, sustenance and nourishment, adding that a mother is a child’s first teacher who provides emotional support and guides the direction of thought throughout life.

Emphasising the importance of family life, Bhagwat said parents should devote adequate time to their children, maintain continuous communication and address their questions with patience. He noted that children learn more through observation than instruction, making it essential for parents to lead by example.

The RSS chief also said many social debates stem from misconceptions and asserted that India’s cultural foundations remain strong. He urged people to move forward with confidence in the country’s history, knowledge and traditions instead of blindly adopting foreign lifestyles. He said the spirit of unity amid diversity remains the core message of Bharatiya culture and called for strengthening social and family institutions based on Indian values.

The two-day national awareness programme for North India was organised by Vishwamanglya Sabha, a global women’s organisation working with the motto “Maatru Nirman se Rashtra Nirman” (Nation-building through Mother-building). Around 280 women from different states participated in the event held on July 23-24, while more than 900 women attended the concluding session. The organisation said nearly 2,000 to 2,500 women had registered for the dialogue on “Yuganukool Maatrutva.”

According to the organisation, Vishwamanglya Sabha conducted conventions in 23 provinces across India in 2026 with participation of around 37,000 women. It said the organisation is currently active in 33 provinces with nearly six lakh women associated with its activities in education, value inculcation, social awareness and service. Its presence has also expanded to 14 countries, including the United States and the Netherlands.

Vishwamanglya Sabha said its objective is to develop leadership, cultural awareness, moral values and a sense of responsibility among women to help build value-oriented future generations and contribute to the creation of a strong, harmonious and self-confident Bharat. The organisation was established in Nagpur on February 19, 2010, under the guidance of Acharya Swami Shri Jitendranath Ji Maharaj.
