President Murmu Hails Indian Diaspora in Romania

BUCHAREST, 25th July: President Droupadi Murmu on Saturday hailed the Indian community in Romania for strengthening bilateral ties and urged them to remain active partners in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

Addressing members of the Indian community and ‘Friends of India’ at a reception hosted by the Ambassador of India in Bucharest on the concluding day of her State visit to Romania, the President said the Indian diaspora continues to remain deeply connected to its motherland despite living abroad.

She said the achievements of Indians in Romania and their commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage make every Indian proud. She noted that Indian companies and professionals are making significant contributions to Romania’s development while creating new avenues for cooperation between the two countries.

Describing people-to-people relations as the strongest pillar of India-Romania ties, President Murmu said the Indian diaspora has remained united and is keeping India’s rich cultural traditions alive in Romania. She also highlighted the growing presence of Indian IT professionals, researchers, healthcare workers, scholars and students who are making Romania their home.

The President said the Indian community’s contribution to Romania’s economy and society, along with its efforts to promote Indian culture and values, has made it a true representative of India abroad. She also appreciated the Government and people of Romania for welcoming the Indian community and ensuring its safety.

Highlighting India’s long-term development goals, President Murmu said the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 aims to build a prosperous, modern, self-reliant and inclusive nation. She urged members of the Indian diaspora to continue contributing through their experience, expertise and achievements to India’s developmental journey.

The President also acknowledged the presence of Romanian ‘Friends of India’, saying their appreciation for Indian art, culture and spirituality serves as an important bridge between the people of the two countries. She thanked them for their continued support in strengthening friendship and cooperation between India and Romania.

The reception was attended by Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya and Members of Parliament Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Vijay Baghel.

Following the successful conclusion of her three-nation State visit, President Murmu departed for New Delhi.
