Mumbai, 3rd Aug: Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will convene an Investors’ Meet in Mumbai on August 4 to attract investments for India’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) being developed in Gwalior.
The meeting will also be attended by Department of Telecommunications Secretary Amit Agarwal and Madhya Pradesh Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi, along with telecom manufacturers, technology companies, infrastructure providers, component makers and investors.
The Mumbai roadshow comes days after the Department of Telecommunications and the Madhya Pradesh government signed a Memorandum of Understanding on July 30 to establish the country’s first TMZ in Gwalior.
₹10,000 Crore Investment Target
Following the launch, the first Investors’ Roundtable was held in New Delhi, where Scindia announced investment commitments worth ₹3,500 crore, with the potential to create nearly 14,000 employment opportunities.
The government expects investment in the Gwalior Telecom Manufacturing Zone to eventually cross the ₹10,000 crore mark. The Mumbai meeting is aimed at building on the initial industry response and attracting further investment.
The proposed zone will create an integrated ecosystem covering telecom manufacturing, research and development, design, testing and innovation.
According to the government, the initiative is intended to strengthen domestic telecom value chains, reduce import dependence, promote indigenous manufacturing, increase exports and position India as a global hub for telecom products and next-generation technologies.
The Mumbai Investors’ Meet will seek to deepen partnerships between the government and industry while accelerating the development of the Gwalior TMZ as part of the broader Aatmanirbhar Bharat push.
