Kolkata, 29th Aug: The Kolkata Police on Saturday registered a suo motu FIR against former West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee over an alleged violation of conditions imposed by the Calcutta High Court for a Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) foundation day event.
The FIR was registered at Hastings Police Station against Banerjee and the organisers of the TMCP meeting, a police officer said.
“The FIR has been registered for the alleged violation of the court’s order. The role of all those involved in the violation will be examined during the course of the investigation,” the officer said.
The case was filed after police examined the conditions imposed by the Calcutta High Court for holding the TMCP foundation day meeting at Cathedral Road in central Kolkata on Friday.
Police will examine the circumstances surrounding the event and the alleged breach of the court-imposed conditions as part of the investigation.
