PM Modi Releases Annapurna Yojana Instalment in West Bengal

• The fourth instalment of the Annapurna Yojana is being credited to around 1.5 crore women in West Bengal.
• Each eligible beneficiary receives ₹3,000 a month through direct bank transfers.
• PM Modi said the government aims to ensure that no eligible woman is excluded from the scheme.

New Delhi/Kolkata, 17th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a gathering in West Bengal through video conferencing during the release of an instalment under the Annapurna Yojana, which provides monthly financial assistance to eligible women in the state.

The Prime Minister said the scheme would provide additional financial support to women and strengthen their ability to take household and personal decisions. He also extended greetings on Vishwakarma Puja.

₹3,000 monthly assistance
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the fourth instalment of ₹3,000 is being transferred to the bank accounts of around 1.5 crore women.

Modi said the recurring assistance could help beneficiaries meet expenses such as medicines, household necessities and children’s education. The payments are being made directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

The Prime Minister said the government’s objective was to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of the benefits of the Annapurna Yojana.

He described the monthly assistance as a means of reducing financial pressure on women and said greater control over financial resources could contribute to their decision-making capacity.

Focus on women’s welfare
During his address, Modi listed several central government programmes that he said were aimed at supporting women at different stages of life.

These included Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Ujjwala Yojana, Har Ghar Jal, Ayushman Bharat, PM Mudra Yojana and PM Awas Yojana.

He also referred to measures such as increased maternity leave, construction of school toilets and greater participation of women in property ownership under housing programmes.

The Prime Minister said the government’s approach was to address challenges faced by women from childhood through motherhood and across different stages of life.

PM Awas, PM Vishwakarma initiatives
PM Modi said work on several schemes and projects in West Bengal was being accelerated.

He specifically referred to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, saying more than 50 lakh newly identified poor families in the state would receive permanent houses.

He also highlighted the implementation of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, which is aimed at supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople.

The Prime Minister said the government wanted welfare benefits and development programmes to reach eligible beneficiaries without delays.

‘Viksit Bengal’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’
Linking the state’s development with the national development agenda, Modi said the capabilities of a developed West Bengal would strengthen the broader objective of Viksit Bharat.

He also thanked women in the state for their support and said their continued participation would contribute to the state’s development journey.

The Prime Minister concluded by extending greetings on Annapurna Diwas and Vishwakarma Puja and thanking citizens for their affection and support.
