Anand, 30th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief on Wednesday over the loss of five lives in a road accident in Gujarat’s Anand district and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

The accident occurred at around 4 am on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway, when a private luxury bus collided with a truck. Police said five people were killed and five others sustained injuries in the crash.

According to reports, the bus was travelling from Surat towards Rajasthan and was carrying around 30–40 passengers. The collision took place while the bus was travelling from Anand towards Nadiad. Most passengers were asleep when the crash occurred.

Reacting to the accident, Prime Minister Modi said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

“Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in a mishap in Anand, Gujarat. Condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the speedy recovery of all those injured,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a post on X.

Following the collision, police and local residents reached the site and began rescue operations. The injured passengers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while the bodies of those killed were sent for post-mortem examination.

The crash also disrupted traffic movement on the expressway for some time. Police subsequently cleared the damaged vehicles from the road.

Anand Superintendent of Police G.G. Jasani confirmed the casualties and said an investigation was underway to establish the circumstances leading to the collision.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bus was attempting to overtake the truck when the collision occurred. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the sequence of events that led to the impact.
