New Delhi, 14th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with India’s Asian Games 2026 contingent on October 15 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi. The programme is scheduled to begin around 4:30 PM, and the Prime Minister will also address the gathering.
India secured fourth place in the medal tally at the Asian Games held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, winning 85 medals — 21 gold, 27 silver and 37 bronze. The result marks India’s second consecutive finish among the top five nations, reflecting its performances across a wide range of sporting disciplines.
The contingent recorded several notable achievements at the Games. India delivered historic performances in recurve archery, while both the men’s and women’s hockey teams won gold medals in the same edition.
Indian athletes also secured maiden Asian Games medals in soft tennis and mixed martial arts. Other milestones included the country’s first-ever gold in the women’s trap event, a silver medal in weightlifting after a gap of 28 years, and a silver in Greco-Roman wrestling, ending a 64-year wait for an Indian finalist in the discipline.
The interaction will bring together athletes, coaches and support staff from the Indian contingent, along with Indian Olympic Association officials, representatives of National Sports Federations and officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The meeting is expected to recognise the athletes’ achievements and provide an opportunity for the Prime Minister to engage with those who represented India at the continental sporting event.
