New Delhi, 14th Oct: Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivek Bhagat, accused by a woman journalist of molestation during anti-Election Commission protests in Delhi, has filed a counter-complaint alleging casteist remarks and public humiliation. An FIR was registered against the journalist at Parliament Street police station on Tuesday under the SC/ST Act and provisions relating to obstruction of a public servant and criminal defamation.

According to Bhagat’s complaint, the alleged remarks were made on October 3 near Buta Singh Roundabout, where police were handling protesters who had gathered to march towards Jantar Mantar.

Bhagat alleged that the journalist referred to his caste and questioned how he had become an ACP. He said the remarks were made in public and that he initially continued performing his duties. He also alleged that the journalist and her associates later confronted him repeatedly and described him as a “sexual predator” during a protest outside the police station.

The controversy intensified after Delhi Police arrested a man from Haryana’s Palwal on October 6, alleging that he had circulated fabricated CCTV footage. Police claimed the video had been generated using artificial intelligence and falsely portrayed the officer misbehaving with the journalist.

Bhagat has described the allegations against him as malicious. The journalist’s allegations of sexual assault remain a separate matter under inquiry, and the competing claims have not been established by a court.
