Mumbai, 19th Oct: With Diwali approaching, witnesses initially mistook gunshots for firecrackers before realising that Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car had come under fire in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening.

“He came and started firing, and everyone thought someone was bursting Diwali firecrackers,” witness and vlogger Salma Sheikh told IANS, describing the panic that followed the shooting.

The 36-year-old actor, son of veteran Bollywood star Jackie Shroff, escaped unhurt. However, his driver and an autorickshaw driver sustained injuries, police said.

The incident reportedly occurred near Pushpa Park, within the Juhu police station limits. Police are investigating the sequence of events and attempting to identify those responsible.

Another witness, Shahrukh Sheikh, told NDTV that the atmosphere had been normal before the shooting. People had gathered to take photographs, while several personalities, including Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Bajaj and Abhimanyu, were reportedly present.

According to the witness, the attackers opened fire shortly after the vehicle moved past the gate. He recalled hearing four shots and said the sudden gunfire left people terrified and unable to immediately understand what had happened.

A video circulating on social media purportedly shows an unidentified person firing at the actor’s car. A social media post has also claimed responsibility on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, but police have yet to verify the authenticity of the claim.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spoke to Shroff over the phone on Sunday and assured him that the accused would be traced soon, according to the Chief Minister’s Office. Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, assured the actor of the government’s support.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde issued a strong warning against gang-related violence, saying that bullets would be answered with bullets and that the government would not tolerate gang wars in Mumbai.

Shroff made his Bollywood debut with Heropanti in 2014 and established himself as an action star through films such as Baaghi, Baaghi 2 and War.
