Alka Nangia Arora Takes Charge as CGDA
1991-batch IDAS officer brings over three decades of experience in defence financial management and public service

New Delhi, 1st Aug: Alka Nangia Arora, a 1991-batch officer of the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS), on Saturday assumed charge as the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA).
An alumnus of Garhwal University, Dehradun, and IIT Roorkee, Arora brings more than three decades of experience in defence financial management and public service.
During her career, she has held several key positions in the Government of India, including Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Department of Agricultural Research and Education under the Ministry of Agriculture and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
She has also served as Managing Director of the Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Limited and Additional Development Commissioner for Handicrafts under the Ministry of Textiles.
Arora has led initiatives in areas including handicrafts promotion, agricultural research, procurement policy and public finance. She has also undergone advanced training at institutions including IIM Bangalore and ISB Mohali.
Extensive Experience in Defence Accounts
Arora began her career in the Ministry of Defence at the Dum Dum Ordnance Factory in Kolkata and subsequently held several important assignments in the Defence Accounts Department.
She has served with all three Armed Forces, including as Financial Adviser to the Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai and Financial Adviser to the Army’s Eastern Command.
She also headed the Area Accounts Office in Kolkata and served as Integrated Financial Adviser to the Western Air Command and Army Hospital Research & Referral.
Arora later served as Principal Integrated Financial Adviser to Air Force Headquarters.
At the CGDA Headquarters, she held the positions of Additional CGDA and Special CGDA, where she handled policy areas including audit, IT and systems, integrated financial advice and training
