Guwahati, 2nd May: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has sharply criticized the Congress party for questioning strongroom security and rejecting exit poll projections ahead of the May 4 Assembly election results.
State BJP Chief Spokesperson Kishore Upadhyay accused Congress leaders of making desperate and politically motivated allegations due to their inability to accept shifting voter sentiment.
He asserted that the BJP-led alliance is poised for a strong return to power in Assam and described Opposition concerns over electoral processes as an attempt to create excuses in anticipation of defeat.
Upadhyay also challenged Congress leaders for selectively questioning election integrity only in states where results appear unfavorable to them.
Referring to exit polls, he said multiple agencies have consistently projected an NDA victory in Assam, reflecting prevailing public opinion.
He further mocked Opposition coordination efforts, calling them disconnected from grassroots realities.
The BJP spokesperson also reiterated the ruling alliance’s focus on governance, development and policy implementation rather than political theatrics.
As counting day approaches, Assam remains one of the closely watched battlegrounds in the broader national electoral landscape.
