New Delhi, 24th June: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Wednesday commenced construction work at the Central Secretariat Metro Station for the Central Vista Corridor, a key project being developed under Phase V(A) of the Delhi Metro network.

The project was launched in the presence of Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal, senior officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, and DMRC representatives.

The Central Secretariat station is being developed as part of the Magenta Line extension from Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg. Once completed, it will become a triple-interchange station, providing seamless connectivity between the Magenta, Yellow and Violet Lines.

According to DMRC, the enhanced interchange facility will significantly benefit government employees, daily commuters and visitors travelling to the Lutyens’ Delhi area and surrounding administrative districts.

The Central Vista Corridor will span 9.913 kilometres and comprise nine underground stations: Shivaji Stadium, Yuge Yugeen Bharat, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial–High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha.

The project is aimed at strengthening public transport connectivity in the heart of the national capital by providing easier access to major government offices, judicial institutions, national memorials and convention facilities.

DMRC said the corridor will also improve overall network efficiency, reduce travel time and enhance passenger convenience through better integration with the existing metro network.
