New Delhi, 14th May: Delhi Police on Wednesday carried out a major reshuffle of senior IPS officers, assigning key law and order responsibilities to top officials following recent transfers in the force.
According to an official order, 1994-batch AGMUT cadre IPS officer Neeraj Thakur has been appointed Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order Zone-II).
Thakur was earlier serving in the traffic department.
Meanwhile, 1995-batch IPS officer Devesh Chandra Srivastava has been appointed Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order Zone-I). He was previously serving as Special CP (Crime).
Transfers Follow Senior Officer Postings
The reshuffle comes shortly after Madhup Kumar Tiwari, earlier serving as Special CP (Law and Order Zone-II), was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh on May 2.
Another senior officer, Ravindra Singh Yadav, who was handling Law and Order Zone-I, was recently appointed Director General of Police of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Officials said the latest reshuffle was aimed at streamlining law and order administration and strengthening operational responsibilities within Delhi Police.
Additional Charges Assigned
The order also stated that 1995-batch IPS officer David Lalrinsanga, currently serving as Special CP (Operations, PCR and Communications), has additionally been assigned charge of the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC).
He was already handling the Special Police Unit for North Eastern Region (SPUNER).
The Special CP (Intelligence Division) has now been appointed Special CP (Traffic), replacing the previous arrangement involving additional charge responsibilities.
More Senior IPS Changes
1996-batch IPS officer Ajay Chaudhary has been shifted from the vigilance division to Special Commissioner of Police (Protective Security Division).
Senior IPS officer Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal has returned to Delhi after serving as DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Atul Katiyar has been appointed Special CP (Vigilance Division) with additional charge of welfare and licensing divisions.
Officials further said Vijay Kumar would continue as Special CP (Armed Police) while also holding additional charge of the Public Transport Safety Division.
1998-batch IPS officer K Jegadesan has been appointed Special CP (Intelligence Division) with additional charge of MD/DPHC.
