Bengaluru, 3rd June: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader D.K. Shivakumar has formally approached Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, requesting him to administer the oath of office to the proposed Chief Minister and members of the new Council of Ministers.
According to a letter dated June 3, 2026, Shivakumar submitted a list of ministers proposed for the new government and sought the Governor’s approval for the swearing-in ceremony.
In the list attached to the communication, D.K. Shivakumar has been proposed as Chief Minister, while senior Congress leader Dr. G. Parameshwara has been named as Deputy Chief Minister.
The proposed cabinet includes K.H. Muniyappa, K.J. George, M.B. Patil, Ramalinga Reddy, Sathish Jarakiholi, Krishna Byre Gowda, Priyank Kharge, U.T. Khader, Eshwar Khandre, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, Byrathi Suresh and Sharan Prakash Patil.

The letter, addressed to the Governor at Raj Bhavan in Bengaluru, requests that the oath be administered to the Chief Minister and cabinet ministers named in the proposed list.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in Karnataka following recent political developments in the state and is being viewed as a significant step towards the formation of a new Congress-led government.
No official announcement regarding the date of the swearing-in ceremony had been made immediately, and Raj Bhavan is yet to issue a formal statement on the request.
Political observers noted that the inclusion of several senior Congress leaders alongside younger faces reflects an attempt to balance experience and generational representation within the proposed cabinet.
