New Delhi, 17th Sept: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing his 25 years in public life as a journey marked by service, sacrifice and resolve.
In a series of posts on X, Shah called Modi a symbol of “tireless hard work, sacrifice and foresight” and said his political journey had been an inspiration for millions. Modi was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, on September 17, 1950, and turned 76 on Thursday.
Shah said Modi had made “karma” his “sadhana” and national service the purpose of his life. He also prayed for the Prime Minister’s long life and good health and expressed hope that India would continue progressing towards the goal of a developed India by 2047.
Referring to Modi’s political trajectory from an RSS worker and party organiser to Gujarat Chief Minister and Prime Minister, Shah said the journey demonstrated what could be achieved when national service became the central purpose of public life.
Shah also highlighted what he described as the Modi government’s focus on welfare and the last person in society. He cited initiatives relating to housing, healthcare, women’s empowerment, startups, skilling and education, including Startup India, Skill India and the National Education Policy.
The Home Minister also pointed to infrastructure projects, including the Chenab Railway Bridge, road and bridge networks in the Northeast, Vande Bharat trains and semiconductor manufacturing facilities, as examples of changes during the Modi government’s tenure.
On the economy, Shah said India had moved from being counted among the “Fragile Five” to becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. He also referred to international recognition received by Modi, saying honours conferred on the Prime Minister by foreign governments represented recognition for India.
Shah further highlighted the government’s approach to national security, citing the abrogation of Article 370, surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor. He said these measures demonstrated what he described as a policy of “zero tolerance” towards terrorism.
He also referred to developments in the Northeast and the government’s campaign against Left-Wing Extremism, saying that security and development were closely linked.
The Prime Minister’s Office said separately on Thursday that Modi had expressed gratitude for the affection and blessings received from people across the country on his birthday. Modi said such gestures strengthened his resolve to serve the country with greater devotion.
Shah’s birthday message comes as Modi begins his 77th year, with celebrations and public programmes being organised across the country to mark his 76th birthday.
