New Delhi, 24th June: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will chair the 10th Apex-Level Meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) on June 26 at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, in a major step towards strengthening India’s fight against drug trafficking and substance abuse.

Organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the high-level meeting will bring together representatives from 44 Central Ministries and Departments, along with 108 representatives from State Governments and drug law enforcement agencies in a hybrid format.

During the meeting, Shah will release the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026-2029), a comprehensive roadmap aimed at advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a drug-free India. Prepared through extensive consultations with central ministries, enforcement agencies and stakeholders, the document outlines strategies for demand reduction, supply reduction and harm reduction over the next three years.

The vision document proposes a network-centric enforcement approach and includes measures to tackle synthetic drugs, darknet-enabled trafficking, youth drug abuse and expansion of treatment and rehabilitation facilities. It also lays down defined responsibilities, timelines and measurable targets for stakeholders while integrating enforcement, public awareness, capacity building and inter-agency coordination.

The Home Minister will also release the NCB Annual Report 2025, highlighting the agency’s activities and achievements in combating narcotics-related crimes.

As part of the programme, Shah will launch the Online Drug Disposal Fortnight Campaign, under which approximately 2,09,500 kilograms of seized narcotics valued at around ₹6,000 crore will be destroyed across the country in accordance with legal procedures by various Central and State enforcement agencies.

In another significant development, the Home Minister will inaugurate newly constructed NCB Zonal Offices in Jammu and Guwahati, aimed at strengthening regional enforcement capabilities and coordination.

The NCORD meeting will review the country’s collective efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse and deliberate on strategies for the next three years. Discussions will focus on enhancing coordination among stakeholders, strengthening enforcement mechanisms and advancing the government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.

Officials said the meeting is expected to provide renewed momentum to India’s anti-drug campaign and reinforce a whole-of-government approach to addressing the growing challenges posed by narcotics trafficking and drug abuse.
