Two-day Delhi conference to focus on drug cartels, synthetic drugs, darknet investigations and stronger anti-narcotics coordination

New Delhi, 21st Sept: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate the 3rd National Conference of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Heads of States and Union Territories in New Delhi on September 22, 2026.
Organised by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the two-day conference will bring together ANTF heads from all 36 States and Union Territories, along with representatives of government departments and other stakeholders.
Shah will also release television commercials aimed at raising awareness against drug abuse and lay the foundation stones for new NCB Zone complexes in Lucknow and Dehradun. The best-performing State or UT ANTF will be felicitated, while the revamped NCB website will also be launched.
The conference, themed “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility,” will review progress on targets outlined in the Vision Document on Narcotics Control (2026–2029). Discussions will cover supply reduction, demand reduction and harm reduction measures.
Eight technical sessions are scheduled around four strategic pillars: enforcement and intelligence; precursor and synthetic drug control; demand and harm reduction; and capacity building and coordination.
Key subjects will include dismantling drug networks and cartels, improving enforcement, tackling synthetic drugs and clandestine laboratories, destroying illicit cultivation, and investigating drug trafficking through the darknet and cryptocurrencies.
The government has said the conference is intended to strengthen coordination between the NCB and State/UT ANTFs and develop actionable strategies for tackling drug trafficking over the next three years.
