New Delhi, 31st May: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully airlifted the sacred relics of Lord Buddha to Mongolia in a special mission aimed at strengthening cultural and spiritual ties between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Defence, an IAF IL-76 strategic airlift aircraft, Gajraj, transported the revered relics from Delhi to Mongolia on May 30. The aircraft undertook an overnight flight and landed in Mongolia at 11:25 am IST.

The mission was carried out in support of Bharat’s efforts to deepen cultural engagement with friendly nations and promote its rich civilisational heritage on the global stage.

Officials said the operation reflects the Indian Air Force’s ability to support national objectives beyond its conventional military role, contributing to the country’s cultural diplomacy initiatives.

The transportation of the sacred relics is expected to further strengthen the long-standing spiritual and cultural bonds shared by Bharat and Mongolia, where Buddhism continues to play a significant role in society and heritage.

The Indian Air Force stated that the mission showcased its strategic airlift capabilities while reinforcing Bharat’s commitment to enhancing international cultural cooperation through meaningful people-to-people and heritage-based exchanges.
