Jeddah, 25th Oct: India has issued a fresh advisory for its nationals in Saudi Arabia, particularly Umrah pilgrims facing flight cancellations, as the Indian consulate coordinates with Saudi authorities and airlines to facilitate their early return.

The advisory comes amid rising regional tensions following drone and missile attacks targeting civilian infrastructure by Yemen’s Houthis. The Consulate General of India in Jeddah said its 24-hour control rooms in Jeddah and Makkah were continuing to assist affected Indians.

The support includes food, essential medicines and other immediate necessities wherever required and feasible, with assistance from community associations and volunteers.

The consulate is also in regular contact with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address problems arising from flight disruptions, including visa validity concerns and delayed departures.

Helpline for Accommodation and Service Issues
Umrah pilgrims facing accommodation or other service-related difficulties during their extended stay have been advised to contact the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s Pilgrim Care Centre at 1966. They should register their concerns and obtain a case reference number for follow-up.

Pilgrims have also been asked to remain in touch with their respective Umrah service providers for assistance.

Consulate Coordinates With Airlines
The Indian mission is in regular contact with Indian airlines regarding cancellations and passenger concerns, including difficulties in obtaining refunds.

To help arrange alternative travel, the consulate is connecting Indian Umrah tour operators with airlines that continue to operate flights to India. These arrangements will depend on seat availability, applicable fares and airline requirements.

Affected passengers have been advised to stay in contact with their airlines, travel agents or Umrah operators to manage cancellations, rebookings, refunds and alternative travel plans.

The consulate said it would continue coordinating with Saudi authorities, airlines and other stakeholders to help affected Indian nationals return home at the earliest.
