WASHINGTON – Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei on Sunday commended the Iranian government’s efforts to secure essential goods and services and manage the energy supply despite the “third imposed war” and cites intensified US economic sanctions.
US announced an economic onslaught against Iran, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei has stressed the need to highlight Iran’s capabilities.
He called for greater support to domestic production and harnessing the potential of the youth.
Ayatollah in a message shared on the occasion of Iran’s Government Week, called upon the people of the Islamic Republic to remain united and give strategic attention to culture and education, according to local media.
Mojtaba commended the Iranian government’s efforts to secure essential goods and services and manage the energy supply despite the “third imposed war” and intensified economic sanctions by the US.
He directed the regime to address the weaknesses and shortcomings through planning and practical measures, while prohibiting any action or statement that undermines social cohesion, the Iranian media reported.
Mojtaba’s message came days after the US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced “Operation Economic Outcast” against Iran after efforts to reach a deal on ending the war failed to yield desired results.
Bessent said that any country financially partnering with Iran would be isolated, including the banks and businesses dealing with the Islamic Republic.
US is attempting to pressurize Iran through economic sanctions as the war extends well beyond Washington’s previously stated timeline with no immediate resolution in sight,.
He described the move as “the single greatest financial offensive ever” against Iran, Bessent said it would help “tighten the noose and block every potential source of revenue”.
Iran aid that it was confident it could deal with the US move, noted that neither Russia nor China has accepted the measure.
“The government is and was ready and has a two-year plan to manage these events,” Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance, Seyed Ali Madanizadeh said.
Madanizadeh added that Tehran had been anticipating the move for a long time. “We also have our own tools and know how to play the game.”
