Learning to Be: A Poem on Purpose, Consciousness and the Universe
A contemplative poem on existence, purpose, love, and our connection to the cosmos.

We circle the altar of I and me,
yet we’re woven from stars we can never quite see.
At the grand scale of things, do we matter at all?
Perhaps in the asking, we answer the call.
The mind is both shelter and source of the storm,
we chase after purpose to give chaos form.
We wear the veil thin over all that we are,
forgetting we’re dust of a long dead star.
But purpose isn’t found in the summit or crown,
it lives in the moment before you lie down.
That flicker of joy, brief and bare in the night,
where something touches something,
and for once, it feels right.
Behind the curtain? No grand design waits.
Just you, just this moment, just love without weights.
We are one with the particle, one with the sea,
the truth isn’t hidden, it’s just learning to be.
