PM Modi, Malaysian PM Anwar Review India-Malaysia Ties
Leaders review bilateral ties, semiconductors, defence, digital economy and India-Malaysia strategic cooperation

New Delhi, 12th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12.
Modi warmly welcomed Anwar Ibrahim to India and appreciated Malaysia’s participation in the BRICS Summit as a Partner Country.
The two leaders reviewed the outcomes of Modi’s visit to Malaysia in February 2026 and took stock of progress in bilateral cooperation across several sectors.
Their discussions covered trade and investment, defence and security, semiconductors, infrastructure, digital economy, energy, fintech, education, tourism and people-to-people ties.
During the meeting, Anwar Ibrahim conveyed Malaysia’s concurrence with the establishment of an Indian Consulate General in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Modi appreciated Malaysia’s continued support for strengthening ASEAN-India relations. The leaders also exchanged views on key regional and global issues of mutual interest.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further advancing the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
