PM Modi Meets Ethiopian PM Abiy Ahmed at BRICS
Leaders review Strategic Partnership, economic ties, defence cooperation and regional developments on BRICS sidelines

New Delhi, 12th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali in New Delhi on Saturday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit being held under India’s chairship.
The two leaders discussed measures to further strengthen the India-Ethiopia Strategic Partnership and reviewed progress across key areas, including economic cooperation, defence and security partnership and capacity building.
The meeting built on Modi’s visit to Addis Ababa in December 2025.
Modi and Abiy Ahmed also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest and reaffirmed their commitment to close cooperation in multilateral forums.
Modi expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s participation in the 18th BRICS Summit, noting that its presence contributed to strengthening the collective voice of the Global South.
