New Delhi, 15th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to renowned Bengali writer Saratchandra Chattopadhyay on his 150th birth anniversary, highlighting the enduring significance of his literary works.
In a post on X, Modi described Saratchandra as a noted and versatile Bengali writer whose works have been translated into every Indian language and several foreign languages.
The Prime Minister said Saratchandra’s writings are remembered for their accurate and sensitive portrayal of 19th-century India, particularly Bengali society in rural areas.
Modi also highlighted the writer’s commitment to social reform, women’s rights and nationalism, saying these aspects of his work remain noteworthy.
The Prime Minister urged younger generations to read Saratchandra Chattopadhyay’s writings in the years ahead.
