New Delhi, 28th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired the second high-level meeting with Secretaries to the Government of India, reviewing the future action agenda of ministries dealing with Finance and Economy, Commerce and Industry, and Technology as part of the government’s vision for Viksit Bharat.
Held at the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, the meeting focused on accelerating implementation across key sectors and strengthening coordination among ministries and departments.
The Prime Minister emphasised the need to break both horizontal and vertical silos within the government, urging ministries to work with a shared sense of purpose and deliver integrated outcomes.
Stressing citizen-centric governance, Modi said every policy and decision must be guided by the interests and aspirations of the people, placing citizens at the centre of governance.
Highlighting the importance of technological self-reliance, the Prime Minister said India must continue investing in indigenous technologies alongside infrastructure development to build domestic capabilities in critical sectors.
He also underscored that energy security is closely linked to national security, economic stability and public welfare, calling for innovation, diversification and accelerated capacity creation to achieve self-reliance in the energy sector.
Describing reforms as a continuous necessity rather than a one-time exercise, Modi stressed the need to improve processes, strengthen institutional efficiency and foster a better work culture across government.
On the growing use of technology, the Prime Minister called for enhanced cybersecurity measures to protect digital infrastructure and guard against emerging cyber threats. He encouraged greater participation of young innovators and entrepreneurs in the cybersecurity ecosystem and said it should evolve into a nationwide movement.
Modi also emphasised the importance of proactive communication on strategic sectors to counter misinformation and unfounded fears surrounding major national initiatives.
Calling for closer collaboration between academia and industry, the Prime Minister said new academic courses should be designed to equip the workforce with skills required by emerging industries.
He added that governments must remain youthful, dynamic and forward-looking, continuously adapting to new challenges and opportunities with agility and innovation.
The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, Secretaries of key ministries and departments, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, and featured discussions on implementation priorities, emerging opportunities and governance challenges across sectors.
